Showcase 1: My Last Dolores!

• Purpose:
To provide a fun introduction to Robert Browning's famous poem, 'My Last Duchess', and to provide opportunities for comparative analyses between the two texts regarding such areas as use of language and characterization.

• Description:
A dark video parody - As a result of Dolores' outrageous flirting, an East End of London gangster recounts how he issued certain 'orders' in order to rid himself of the girlfriend who had come to dissatisfy him.

• Quote:
"iClone5 PRO is an amazingly powerful and user-friendly programme which is extremely well supported by web-based video tutorials. Rather than being some mysterious or magical art requiring years of dedicated study under the tutelage of a renowned master, Reallusion have created an on-line support environment in which 3D animation is surprisingly quick and easy to learn for yourself."

Showcase 2: Alien Invasion

• Purpose:
An exciting animation designed to teach the importance of planning before writing. Applicable to most academic subjects and suitable for KS3 (ages 11 - 14) and KS4 (ages 14 - 16). An additional usage might be as a starter activity for a lesson designed to introduce the theme of propaganda. More controversially, the animation might also be used to stimulate an extremely emotive debate on the way in which humanity treats the planet - would the Earth be a better place without us!?

• Description:
The alien speaker is a high profile politician who is addressing the ruling council of his planet, Zagmatron. In his presentation, he is outlining his six-point plan for the invasion of the Earth ... whilst simultaneously justifying his species' colonization of our planet!

• Quote:
"I have absolutely no background in animation, film-making or photography and had never made a film of any description before prior to using iClone 5 Pro. The bottom line is that I am an English teacher who wanted to push the boundaries of what I do in the classroom.  Therefore,  I began creating animated films for my students because I desired to make my lessons more dramatic and visually exciting, especially in the 'starter' phase to each new topic, the intention being to generate an initial burst of enthusiasm which would then stimulate the necessary levels of interest and engagement to carry us through all of the follow-on activities. Thanks to Reallusion's excellent software and on-line support, this has been easily achievable, eminently affordable and, most importantly, lots and lots of fun!"
